Keurig 2.0 Review

photo(8)I was extremely excited to get this from Influenster to try out! Really this seemed like the dream campaign to be apart of. I anxiously awaited it to hit my doorstep for days. When it finally arrived I packed up my old Keurig and happily replaced it with the 2.0 I received.

I set it up and really – the machine is beautiful. Really sleek and nice shiny greys. It really looks nice sitting on the counter – matches great with stainless steel appliances. Really high tech and nice looking.

It was very easy to set up and use (outside of the water filer – I needed the boyfriend’s strength to separate the two pieces in the filter) Filling up the water was a messy process since the container does not remove like my previous machine. I was forced to fill up cup after cup and load the water that way….and it was a bit splashy/messy.
I was pleased to also receive a sample pack of KCups to use. I brewed one right away and tried out the new touch screen. Very simple and easy to use touch screen. I was a tad disappointed by the sizes available – only 8 and 10 ounces? I do 12 and 16 ounces mostly with my old machine.

Overall – great coffee quality – nothing different there. My main gripe? That now you can ONLY use KCups that have been specially formatted for Keurig. I have a stock pile of KCups – and I wasn’t about to just let those goes to waste and spend a ton of money on brand new KCups. I don’t want to pigeon hole myself into only buying one brand of KCups. So overall I finished all of the sample pack and then started using my old Keurig system again.

Overall I really loved the machine – everything about it was great – but I just can’t foresee myself using it again until I use up my stock pile of already bought KCups. Maybe when that is depleted I will make a point of buying the new KCups. Otherwise it is really only good if you need a pot of coffee since that is a new feature my old Keurig cannot do.

*I received this product for free from Influenster for testing purposes.

Coffee In My Cup

I LOVE cute coffee mugs. There is something about drinking anything out of an interesting mug that I just really enjoy. I have been seeing so many cute mugs all over Etsy lately. It is taking everything I have not to order all of these!!

Today’s snow day would be the perfect day to curl up with one of these awesome mugs and drink some coffee/hot chocolate & catch up on my tv shows!

Iced Coffee Protein Shake

Today I wanted to spice up my after lifting protein shake a bit. So I added coffee! It was super easy and really delicious. coffee2

I have many different kinds of k-cups and it is a daily struggle to decide which kind to use! For this drink I chose the Kahlua K-Cup because I knew it would go well with my chocolate protein powder.

First Step: Brew your coffee!  Then put it in the freezer for about 5 minutes. This is so the coffee can cool down a bit and won’t automatically melt your ice cubes.

Second Step: Throw all of your ingredients into your blender of choice. I used my NINJA. For my version I used a handful of ice cubes, 1/2 scoop of Chocolate Whey protein powder, 1/2 cup of water, and my coffee once I took it out of the freezer.

Third Step: Blend to desired consistency. Some people like theirs to be frothy and milkshakey but I decided to keep mine in the typical iced coffee liquid state.

coffee3Pretty iced coffee. You’d never know this was enhanced with protein powder!  coffee4YUM!  Sweaty & gross, but enjoying a nice refreshing iced coffee protein shake post workout today! I love break week because there is nobody in the gym and I can use all of the weight lifting machines that I don’t typically use!
